Welcome to my research profile. I am a dedicated researcher with a strong background in Natural Language Processing (NLP), especially focusing on low-resourced languages like Setswana. My work has led to the publication of about 10 research papers in this area, demonstrating my commitment to advancing NLP for under-represented languages.
Before starting my PhD at Okayama University in the Department of Advanced Science and Technology, I spent five years at the University of Botswana as a teaching assistant and lab demonstrator. This role allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in linguistic technology.
My academic qualifications include BSc and an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Botswana, where my thesis focused on tagging Setswana qualificatives and adverbs. Additionally, I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education fromĀ Botho University, Botswana, and an MBA from the University of the People, USA.
Currently, under the supervision of Professor Takeuchi, my PhD research explores educational applications of NLP, specifically essay scoring for low-resource languages like Japanese. I am passionate about using large language models to enhance educational tools and am interested in further exploring transfer learning and zero-shot learning methodologies.
